http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Live_Mail

I am a bit confused on the issue, and there is not a lot of info out there, but supposedly it is intended to be a successor to Outlook Express and Windows Mail.

I'd like to try it myself here sometimes.

The ad issues I have no idea about.

I don't think Windows Live Mail supersedes Windows Mail.
Windows Live Mail adds Hotmail Support, and can easily be setup to view Yahoo and Gmail accounts. It also has onscreen adverts. Unless you need Hotmail I can't see why you'd use WLM.

Pretty clever really. You get your Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail on one screen, in a nice desktop app that's available offline. Microsoft get their advertisements on your screen :)

Right after upgrading to Vista and migrating to the new Windows Mail client, the replacement to Outlook Express...

Lo and behold,

- Microsoft supersedes "Window Mail" with another application called "Windows Live Mail [desktop]".
